The fact of imaginning the creation of the new edition of FIBA (Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires) leads us to ask ourselves a series of questions. Where to start? What shape should we give to it because of the fact that this is a city where, in peak seasons, there are almost 500 shows going on? We also have to think about it from the very beginning, more than ten years ago, when the situation of the country, and its theatrical activity, were quite different than those we have today. And, most of all, how can we do, so that this edition has a success which must surpase all expectations. Not only in relation to the theatrical activity but also in relation to what we have already shown in previous editions.
That is why we look for shows which are not within the internacional festivals tradicional circuits, but we are also still interested in what they tell us. We privilige the urban cycles; of what takes place there, considering they have a different timing than those of the festivals. We are interested in bringing plays which are not well known so as to show the diversity of contemporary options.
We also have a very essential goal: creating very strong links with our local theatrical community. Even though the Festival is directed to the public; it is essential to produce a strong impact on the local creators.
We want to open up a space to discuss about thematic and aesthetics searchs, production methods; to share opinions and to create positive tensions between the internacional artists and the local ones.
And last , but not least, we are looking for a larger inclusion of productions made, not only in Buenos Aires, but also in the rest of the country and throughout all latinamerican regions.
